Description

Context & overview

ITS Academy Puglia, a regional VET excellence hub, experimented with AI to improve both admissions processes and teaching methods. A chatbot was integrated into the enrollment portal to support prospective students and families in real time, while an AI teacher pilot was introduced to explore adaptive learning opportunities.

Challenges addressed

High demand during admission periods created bottlenecks in administrative support.

Prospective students lacked timely information, risking lower enrolment rates.

Teaching staff sought innovative tools to personalise learning pathways and increase engagement.

Solution implemented

A chatbot embedded in the enrolment portal answered real-time questions from families, reducing pressure on staff. The institute tested an AI-supported teaching model to enhance classroom engagement, with adaptive pathways and automated content generation for exercises.

Impact & results

  1. Significant reduction of response time for perspective students and families.
  2. Increased accessibility and inclusiveness of admissions procedures.
  3. Strengthened organisational governance through the streamline of administrative processes.
  4. Fostered a culture of innovation among teachers, paving the way for broader AI adoption in VET.
