Description

Another fantastic example of applying the principles of personalization in Polish education is the Mindeasy - BASIA tool. Its focus is on determining the wellbeing and health status of the learner and proposing the right pace of learning and proposing the material. The tool monitors concentration and academic stress levels, allowing itself to adjust educational materials in real time and optimizing learning conditions.

Company: MINDEASY z.o.o (a Polish technology company)

Technology: Neurophysiological and biometric analysis and AI support in material personalization for a specific child or student.

Area of Education: Foreign languages, mathematics and biology learning, preparation for exams.

How AI-Powered Personalization Works

MINDEASY - BASIA’s main function is to help students effectively master new material. The tool goes beyond simple material division into chapters. The AI analyzes the neurophysiological and biometrical data and assigns the correct tempo, difficulty of the material and even proposes adequate audio-visual aids for a student.

  1. Gathering measurements: BASIA gathers neurophysiological data via eyetracking, EEG headband to measure stress, cognitive state and cognitive load of the student.
  2. AI analysis: AI algorithm analyzes the neurophysiological data and proposes adequate material presentation, and material difficulty.
  3. Feedback for teachers: BASIA generated progress reports and recommendation plans for teachers.

Connection to Course Concepts MINDEASY - BASIA perfectly illustrates the key principles presented in the "Creating Personalized Learning with AI" course:

  • Personalized Learning Path (Module 2): Each student's session is unique and depends entirely on their current cognitive state. The path to mastering the same material is different for everyone.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making (Module 2): The system operates entirely on a student's cognitive abilities. It provides instant help by reducing the cognitive load of the material and adapts to the level of focus.
  • The Teacher as an Analyst and Mentor (Module 1): The teacher can work with BASIA on the materials and focus on the role of a mentor. They can easily identify which students need more time and which material parts are more stressful or cognitively demanding.
